My Skincare Progress – Have I Noticed Any Difference Since Following A Regime?

So it’s been a minute since I did a post about skincare. Over two months ago I announced that I wanted to achieve the ultimate Instagram skin glow and that I was going to keep anyone who was interested updated on my progress. And just-over-two-months into a skincare regime seems to be the perfect time to share some thoughts. Incredibly, I can confirm that I have ~more or less~ stuck to a routine, though the products I’m using have changed ever so slightly. If you’re a skincare ninja then sticking to your regime may not seem like a big deal. But it’s normally quite the battle for me to stay motivated to properly look after my skin on the daily. This time I’ve ~somehow~ managed to stay on the straight and narrow. Just call me a skincare warrior.

Here’s a list of the products I’ve tried out over the past two months. If you’re not a list person, feel free to skip to the next bit – I won’t be offended.

1~ Garnier Micellar Water

2~ Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Creamy Calming Cleanser

3~ L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Wash (the black one)

4~ Glossier Super Pure Serum

5~ Glossier Priming Moisturiser

OK, so without waffling on about how to clean your face with micellar water, here are my brief thoughts on each product:

1~ The micellar water has been THE BEST alternative for removing makeup without having to use a face wipe. I’ve heard very, very bad things about face wipes lately…

2~ Super Facialist’s rose-scented cleanser has been really gentle on my somewhat Sensitive Sally skin. No itchy red reactions, and no-more-than-usual nasty breakouts. Plus, the rose scent is genuinely nice and calming for evening use.

3~ Clay products aren’t something I like to use on the daily because they’re too drying (and these L’Oreal ones I find to be too perfumed for everyday use). But if you’re looking to dry out and get rid of a spot in double quick time, this is the one.

4~ Glossier’s Super Pure is a new one I’ve started using in the past few weeks, and so far so good. No scent so no irritation, and I think I can actually see a difference in my skin, spot-wise.

5~ The priming moisturiser is also a new one, and a very nice one at that. A good, lightweight formula and really hydrating for mornings. LOVE the packaging of both Glossier products.

So apart from the feeling of having m-u-c-h cleaner skin after using the micellar water and cleanser every day since June, I think there’s been a more significant difference in my skin since using the two Glossier products. No huge spots have surfaced, (you watch, now I’ve said that my face will have 3 new friends by tomorrow lunchtime) and I think it’s pretty much down to that miracle Super Pure serum.

My ultimate goal for this whole skincare regime business was to be able to wear less make up at the end of it. I can’t stand the feeling of it sitting on top of my skin, and as the day goes on I seem to end up with a greasy layer forming on my face. Not exactly ideal. I’ve already been cutting back on face makeup, ditching my tinted moisturisers and powders, and opting for a simple slick of concealer under my eyes and anywhere else that’s looking a bit worse for wear. And that’s got to be healthier for my skin already, hasn’t it? After all, less-clogged pores are happy pores. Am I right? Back in my June post, I also mentioned that I was going to start trying to drink more water. Considering I didn’t drink any water before, I didn’t think it would be hard to make an improvement on that. Anything’s got to be better than zero. And I think I’ve actually been doing quite well with it. Yes, I could definitely be taking in (a lot) more water, but for someone who really isn’t a fan of the stuff, I’m pretty happy with my progress.

My other hero product – which isn’t really skincare, but is applied to the face and deserves a mention – has to be the James Read Sleep Mask Tan. This stuff is really what gives you ~that~ glow. You know, the one I mentioned at the start of this post? Admittedly, it is on the more expensive end of the face tanning product scale, but it’s really worth it. The easiest application, no streaks, and so buildable. It fits to the tone of your natural skin so you’ll never look like a crazy oompa-loompa woman, and you can build it up night by night, depending on the intensity you’re looking for. So, a pricier product, but up at the top of my list next to Glossier’s Super Pure.

And there you have it. My skincare progress, and the best products that really work for my skin. Drop me a comment below if you have any skincare stories, or product recs.
