How To Wear: The Tracksuit Top

Yes, you read it right – tracksuits are back. Whether you’re a fan of them or not – like everything else from the 90s and noughties – the tracksuits are working their way back into out wardrobes for daytime, and I want to show you how to incorporate them into your look. It’s really simple and easy, especially if you break it up and start with the tracky top. I might not be going all out with a full tracksuit (because like you, I’m a little bit scared) but when I saw the tracksuit jacket in a charity shop for £3, I knew I had to give this trend a go. Turns out I actually really like it, and will be wearing my sporty little friend all throughout summer as a light cover-up. Go for a shiny material over velour and you’ve got yourself a cool showerproof piece too. Plus, I’m not sure how I feel about velour and think that could be taking it a step too far – sorry Juicy Couture but you belong behind closed doors for now I think!

I think the key thing for bringing back your tracksuit is to pick out either the jacket or the trousers and run with one. I’m considering some camo tracky bottoms for myself so I think you could rock either, but for £3 I thought the jacket was a good place to start. Although I thrifted it, it’s originally from Topman so borrowing from the boys also gets the thumbs up for this look. Laid-back and slouchy is always a winner in my eyes. To steer it away from becoming a full-on tracksuit look, I opted for loose fit jeans. This adds to the relaxed look, but gives it a wee bit more structure and put-together style – just what we like. The rest is up to you!
