May Birchbox Unboxing

NCFmaybirchbox-7

This month’s box was all about the dreamers, and with a silver scratch coating on the lid of the box, two subscribers had the chance to win a luxury holiday. It definitely wasn’t me but leave me a comment if you were one of the lucky ones! I was happy with the selection in the box again, and as usual, sample sizes were decent. Keep reading to hear my thoughts on all the products individually…NCFmaybirchbox-1 NCFmaybirchbox-2

Rituals Mild Exfoliating Body Scrub

I’ve been a fan of Rituals ever since I got the foaming shower gel in one of my previous Birchbox’s (read about it here!) so I was pretty excited when I saw that they’d sent me something else from the brand. It was actually just in time as well, as I was in need of a new exfoliator. I actually wanted an exfoliator for my face, not my body, but I couldn’t see anywhere on the bottle or online that it was to be used on the body only so I thought it wouldn’t do me any harm to give it a try. As with the foaming shower gel, I loved the scent of the organic white lotus and yi yi ren, and it was pretty gentle on my face. The sample size is rather huge too (no, this one isn’t full size!) so this is going to last me a long time.NCFmaybirchbox-6

Caudalie Moisturising Sorbet

Birchbox quite often send out different moisturisers to try as you may have noticed if you’ve seen my previous boxes (check out the Polaar one I got here). I’ve seen other people’s reviews where they’ve said that they get really bored of Birchbox sending out the same types of products all the time – which is understandable – but if you’re anything like me then you’ll probably be happy to try anything, and you never know, you could end up finding a miracle product at some point! This month I was sent a moisturising sorbet from Caudalie, a brand I’m always interested to try from. If you’ve seen the prices you’ll understand why I may not be inclined to purchase from Caudalie myself, so it’s nice to try out samples! This feels really hydrating and cooling, so even though I’ve only tried this out at night time I think it would be really effective in the mornings to fix puffy under-eyes and reduce redness.NCFmaybirchbox-3

PK Prep Polishing Balm

Somethings Birchbox often send me in their monthly boxes are hair products, and I’ve even been sent Philip Kingsley before too. Hair products are something I’m less enthusiastic to try because I never, ever, find that they have any effect on my hair/do what they say they will. Having said that, I will get my money’s worth and make sure I use this up! I’m yet to decide if it really does smooth frizz and flyaways, but one thing I do like is that it can be used on dry hair as well as wet.NCFmaybirchbox-4

Spectrum Wonder Sponge (full size sample)

This was the product every subscriber got to choose this month – we could have a pink or purple sponge, and thankfully this time they actually sent me the one I picked!  I already own one of these make-up sponges from Makeup Revolution, but I’m loving this one more at the moment. It feels a lot stiffer as a sponge but this is good because I know it’s not going to hold loads of water like my Makeup Revolution one does! There was also a handy tip that came with this product too – wet the sponge slightly to ensure a flawless finish to your makeup.

theBalm Stainiac Lip & Cheek Stain

This was the only product this month which I’m really not loving, and don’t think I’ll ever use. I was quite surprised when I saw that this was a cheek stain as well as for lips because the colour is rather vibrant! I don’t know about you but for someone who never wears blusher, this isn’t a colour I’d want on my cheeks! I did give this a try on my lips, but found that it was quite drying. I carry my Baby Lips around with me everywhere so you can probably guess that I ain’t about those dry lips. If you’re into these lip/cheek stain products then give it a try, but this one’s not for me.NCFmaybirchbox-5

Some months, Birchbox add in an extra bonus sample and this month we were all given a little packet of Vita Coco Coconut Oil. I’m yet to try mine out, but this thing can be used for just about anything you can imagine. Even brushing your teeth apparently… I think I’ll try mine out as a hair mask.

      1. Glossybox is really good, it usually has more full sized items, but alot of brands you may not have heard of, compared to Birchbox often having Benefit etc. I feel Glossybox is a bit better value for money though. I’ve done alot of posts on my Glossyboxes over the past year that you can take a look at if youre interested to see what kind of things they send out x
