Tuxedo Dress

Fashion is always important, whether you’re on-the-go, or just staying in at home. There’s a different style for every event, and for me, every day. Travelling is always something which makes fashion a little harder: What shall I pack? What will the weather be like? Where will I be going? and this means that deciding what to wear can become more of a chore, and less fun.

Kendra Thornton, TV Travel Expert, is starting a new project about fashion relating to travel. In order to help her out with ideas for this new project, Kendra has set a challenge to plan an outfit for her night out in Las Vegas with friends. As part of this style challenge set for me by Kendra, I have created a style board, showing her my ideas on what she should wear for her evening. While Kendra plans her night of dancing, watching shows and visiting casinos, I have planned her a look, so that it’s one less thing she has to worry about.

Kendra’s Itinerary:
“Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to visit, and I’m excited that I get to spend some time there with friends in just a few weeks. We’ll be wining and dining at one of the world-class hotels and restaurants in the Bellagio, and I plan to try my luck gambling as well. Of course, there are a few details to be attended to before we leave, and for me, finding the perfect outfit for an evening in Sin City stands at the top of that list. Will you help me choose a great look for this adventure? Here are some details about the evening we have planned that might inspire your recommendation:
Prime Steakhouse
There are few things I enjoy more than a perfectly prepared steak paired with a delicious glass of red wine, and there are few places where the steak and wine are as good as those served at Prime Steakhouse. Entrées here come from the amazing mind of four-star celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The menu includes delicious steak, delightful cuts of lamb and seafood. Each entrée is accompanied with succulent sauces and delectable sides. The extensive wine list features fabulous pairings to go with every meal. The décor complements dining here, and amazing art graces the walls. Guests can choose to eat outdoors on a garden patio where tranquility reigns supreme.
Las Vegas Style
Fun and fashion meet whenever I land in Las Vegas. This exhilarating city has a unique style of its own, and I love participating in the culture of diversity here. There is something for everyone to do and enjoy. When I’m attending shows in Las Vegas, playing slots, sipping cocktails or dancing the night away, I have more fun if I look great. I’m excited to learn what new fashions you recommend for my upcoming night at the Bellagio.”

Tuxedo Dress

Tuxedo Dress

Sharp, elegant, red lips, sleek hair, skyscraper heels, and a tuxedo dress.

More and more women are starting to step away from the backless gowns and head more towards the tux, but this can be quite a sharp, masculine look. My idea? Combine the two outfits, making the look masculine with a twist of femininity.

For Kendra’s night out at the Bellagio, I wanted to find something that would be elegant but easy to wear, pretty but not too girly, and a tuxedo dress seems to fit the bill.

Celebrity Tuxedos

Celebrity Tuxedos

This obviously isn’t a new and innovative idea I’ve just thought of – you’ve probably seen many female celebs wearing a tuxedo on the red carpet recently, and I think this looks great. Plus, it’s workable, wearable and moveable.

Shoes, Wraps, Jewellery, Nails

Shoes, Wraps, Jewellery, Nails

The break-down:
Shoes – While maintaining all the traditional elements of a tux, you can still mix it up a bit to keep the look fresh. Where a man would wear a bow tie around his neck, you will wear it on your shoes. Keep the neck bare, and let your feet do the talking.

Faux Fur Wrap – While it may be hot outside in Las Vegas, it could still be cool inside, so take a cropped faux fur wrap to pull across your shoulders, just in case. Even if you’re warm enough without it, the faux fur adds an extra element of glamour to the whole thing.

Jewellery – Go for statement earrings and keep everything else minimal. Slicked back hair is a must for this look, meaning your ears will be on show, so take this chance to show off your best earrings, coordinating them in with the monochrome colour scheme. Then, try just a single, plain black and gold bangle on one wrist for a little bit of detail.

Nails – This may seem like such a minor detail, but Zooey Deschanel seemed to cause a stir with her tuxedo nails on the red carpet. Nails are a great way to catch peoples’ attention, and what better design than a tuxedo for this event?

Hair

Hair

This look is all about the tux, so like jewellery and accessories, hair must be minimal. The best hair style for this look is sleek and straight. It can be a sleek low ponytail, a smooth low bun, or just simply slicked back – it’s up to you, and whichever style suits your hair best. For blonde girls like Kendra, a sleek low ponytail will finish off your sharp, masculine-yet-feminine evening look perfectly.

I hope this has inspired you Kendra, and that it has given you one less thing to worry about for your trip, keeping fashion fun and simple.
